On the tour, you learn everything about the history of Sportpark, which was
originally a gift from the Krupp family to the city of Duisburg.
From the excavated lake to the Sportpark Duisburg
In 1919, the company Krupp gave its gravel excavation site in Wedau to the city of Duisburg with the instruction to create a sports and recreational area for the local population. This led to the creation of Germany’s biggest and most diverse sports and recreation park on an area now covering some 200 hectares. The Regattabahn is world-famous. MSV Duisburg plays their opponents in the schauinsland-reisen Arena. There is an indoor ice rink, athletics facilities, a swimming complex and a high ropes course. Several clubs and associations are based here. The guided tour can be taken on foot or by bike.
