KOM'MA-Theatre

Duisburg’s KOM'MA Theatre for children and young people (also known as the ReibeKuchenTheater until 2013) celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2016, making it one of the oldest independent theatres for children and young people in Germany.

It is a member of ASSITEJ and firmly established in its field, with influence that stretches far beyond the city itself.

Theatre has been staged for children here since 1976, for children and young people since 1984 and for children, young people and adults since 1988. It remains an independent theatre, in its ‘own’ home since 1994, the KOM'MA in the Duisburg district of Rheinhausen.

The productions for children, young people and adults at the KOM'MA Theatre have won various awards.

The venue has hosted the children’s and young people’s theatre festival as part of Duisburger AKZENTE on nine occasions. It has hosted the Traumspiele twice and been 'capital city' of the event once. The theatre is the initiator of the Dutch and German children’s and young people’s theatre festival KAAS & KAPPES as well as the Dutch and German drama prize for children and young people, which was awarded for the twelfth time in 2010. In 2008 the theatre successfully staged the NRW children’s and young people’s theatre gathering.
