Duisburg-Essen Model United Nations Association

The Duisburg-Essen Model United Nations Association, better known as DuEMUN e.V., was founded by students of the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2005 to promote Model United Nations in the Ruhr Area.

As a charitable organization, DuEMUN e.V. not only hosts and participates in Model UN conferences, but also aims to educate the public about the United Nations and current events in international relations through panel discussions and UN simulations at local schools.

The DuEMUN association is under the patronage of the Lord Mayor of Duisburg and has been in close cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University Alliance Metropolis Ruhr since its inception.

Until 2010 DuEMUN e.V. and several institutes of the University of Duisburg-Essen, including the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), the Institute of Political Science, and the Confucius Institute Metropolis Ruhr, have jointly organized the DuEMUN Project. In late 2010, DuEMUN e.V. has taken over as the sole organizer of the conference.

A board of directors, chaired by the President, heads the association while one or more Secretary Generals are responsible for organizing the DuEMUN conference.
